The Patriots secured a 14-10 victory against the Bills in Buffalo and will keep their status as first in the AFC East.

During the windy “Monday Night Football” matchup, running back Damien Harris dominated the league’s top-ranked defense. The 24-year-old rushed for 111 yards and a touchdown before he exited the matchup with a hamstring injury. Running back Rhamondre Stevenson also helped drive down the field and recorded 24 carries for 78 yards.

While the wind whipped through Highmark Stadium at around 40-50 mph, according to the National Weather Service,  Mac Jones attempted to throw the ball three times. He ended the matchup with the fewest pass attempts in the league since the Bills defeated the Jets 16-12 in 1974. Josh Allen connected with tight end Jonnu Smith for 12 yards and running back Brandon Bolden for seven yards.

Patriots vs. Bills weather update: Strong winds impacting kicks, passes in ‘MNF’ game

The Bills’ defense allowed 222 rushing yards and gave up an average of 4.9 total yards per play. During a handoff from Allen to running back Matt Breida, the ball came loose and gave the Patriots possession at their own 31. After Harris found a hole on third down, he rushed for 64 yards and put the Patriots on the board. Bolden rushed in for the two-point conversion and put New England up 8-0 with around five minutes remaining in the first quarter.

Although Allen lost a fumble that allowed the Patriots to capitalize, he completed 15 of 30 passes for 145 yards with a touchdown in the harsh Buffalo weather conditions. Allen also led the Bills with six carries for 39 rushing yards. He connected with wide receivers Stefon Diggs for 51 yards and Gabriel Davis for 30 yards with a touchdown.

As the Patriots advance to 9-4 and stay atop the AFC East, they will prepare to face the Colts for their next matchup in Indianapolis. Meanwhile, the Bills at 7-5 will look to stay in the playoff race as they prepare to face the Buccaneers (9-3), who sit atop the NFC South.
