Turkey is also back on the agenda for 2022, with Eurowings offering flights to Izmir and Kayseri. Also, given that the Turkish Lira has lost 40% of its value against the Euro this year, it could prove to be a popular summer destination for German tourists.

Other Eurowings news

Since last summer, Eurowings has allowed passengers to book the middle seat in addition to their own for as little as 10 euros. With passengers wanting to keep a safe distance from their fellow travelers, this became a popular option on many Eurowings flights. Now in appreciation of all those passengers who paid for an extra seat, during the Christmas and New Year holidays, Eurowings will allow you to book the middle seat free of charge.

About Eurowings

Eurowings came about in 1993 following the merger of two German commuter airlines Nürnberger Flugdienst (NFD) and Reise-und Industrieflug (RFG). Initially operating with a fleet of ATR 42s and ATR 72s, the airline added BAe 146s before becoming the mainly Airbus airline it is today. German national flag carrier Lufthansa acquired an initial 24.9% stake in Eurowings in 2001, before later increasing that to 49% and eventual ownership in 2011. In 2017, Lufthansa announced that it planned to move Eurowings away from being a regional carrier and that it would now be a low-cost carrier (LCC) flying short and long-haul routes to holiday destinations.

According to the aviation data and statistics, website ch-aviation Eurowings current fleet is made up of the following 95 aircraft:

  • 2 x Airbus A220-300s
  • 36 x Airbus A319-100s
  • 53 x Airbus A320-200s
  • 2 x Airbus A321-200s
  • 2 x Boeing 737-800s
