Texas Tech has landed a pivotal player on the offensive line by way of the transfer portal. Former New Mexico offensive tackle Cade Briggs will be transferring to Lubbock, according to a post on his Instagram.
Briggs is 6-3, 295 pounds, which will add some serious size to the Red Raiders’ offensive line. Briggs started all 12 games at left tackle for the Lobos last season, the second straight season he’s done so.
The statistics on Briggs are impressive. In 2020, Briggs had a 95.2 pass blocking efficiency and a 14.3 percent impact run blocking rate, according to PFF.com. While offensive linemen may not always be the flashiest additions, Briggs will give Texas Tech some Day 1 depth at a position they desperately need talent.
