One of boxing’s fastest rising stars returns to the ring on Sunday night when Gervonta “Tank” Davis faces off with Isaac Cruz. The lightweight battle goes down from Staples Center in Los Angeles and airs live on Showtime pay-per-view.
Davis brings serious power to the ring, having finished 24 of his 25 career opponents, including a June TKO win over Mario Barrios after moving up to junior welterweight to win the WBA’s secondary championship at the weight. He now returns to lightweight looking to score a big win and move closer to a world title shot at 135 pounds.
Cruz is an all-action fighter who will bring the fight to anyone, even Davis. Cruz built himself up into a spot to receive high profile fights after impressive campaigns in 2020 and 2021, picking up the four biggest wins of his career. In his most recent fight, Cruz beat Francisco Vargas to move up to the top end of the IBF rankings at lightweight.
The pay-per-view card features four fights and kicks off at 8 p.m. ET.

Cruz landed another left, stopping a good run of Davis offense that saw Davis landing hard left hands. Cruz ripped Davis to the body and then blasted Davis’ head back with a left hand.
