Numerous north-county school districts were closed today as the region in under a lake-effect snow warning until 7 Saturday morning.
Forecasters noted that total snow accumulations could range from 8 to 14 inches with winds gusting at times at 35 mph. “Travel could be very difficult at times,” the National Weather Service notes. “Areas of blowing snow could significantly reduce visibility.”
Through 8:30 a.m. Friday, the National Weather Service reported 6.9 inches of snow in Gerry; 5.3 inches in Fredonia; 4.6 inches in Mayville; and 4.2 inches in Silver Creek.
Buffalo and Depew were hit hardest in the lake-snow event on Thursday, reporting 17 inches of snow.
