A woman suspects she’s being tracked after noticing a number of weird messages on her phone.

TikTok user @angel.edge95 shared her theory in a post that has since received 2.5 million likes.

“I think I’m being tracked,” she said. “The more I post about it, it seems like it’s happening to a lot of people. I don’t know if I’m in danger.”

The user explained that she flew from her Texas home to Maine, and shortly after arriving at the airport, she received an odd message.

Her phone detected an “unknown accessory” near her, presumably an Apple AirTag. She was first notified of it at 8:45 a.m. that day when shopping at a Texas Walmart.

There was an option to “remove” the device, @angel.edge95 said, but when she tried to do so, she received a pop-up that said it was unable to connect to the server.

She then noticed another notification at the bottom of her phone encouraging her to contact local law enforcement if she felt unsafe.

Then, @angel.edge95 stated that locating the tracking device may not be possible because there was a chance that law enforcement or Apple Support wouldn’t be able to assist without the device’s serial number.

At 12:56 a.m., she received another notification that the device’s owner could see its location. After, she received a second “unknown accessory” message.

She was able to pull up a map with a red dot that she believed indicated every time someone physically checked the device’s location.

“I can’t find a tracker,” @angel.edge95 said, sharing that she had already searched her car and belongings. “I shut off my location services, and I shut off my Bluetooth services, and I thought that fixed the problem.”

It didn’t. She said she received another “unknown accessory” notification just minutes before sharing the video.

In the comments of her video, @angel.edge95 said she’s working with law enforcement to resolve the problem and noted that they didn’t want her to share an update just yet.

Her story is the latest instance of a young woman claiming to find a tracking device (or evidence of one) in their personal belongings. The “unknown accessory” alerts have been the reason why multiple different TikTok users became aware of the alleged tracking in the first place.

In the case of Apple AirTags, users who don’t have an iPhone wouldn’t even receive those alerts, one commenter claimed. AirTags are intended to help owners keep track of easily lost items like keys or wallets, but multiple women have claimed to have found one in their belongings or behind their car’s license plate.

People commented on @angel.edge95’s post saying that this isn’t a new phenomenon.

“You’re the second woman I’ve seen post about this today. Please be safe,” one said.

“Worst invention ever. These are being used by the worst people,” another wrote.

The user — and multiple commenters — noted that Android phones do not automatically alert users to the presence of AirTags like iPhones do. But Android users can download the AirGuard app from the Play Store to receive those alerts.
